So this weekend I attended the All-Ireland Kendo Championships and I won this little baby. Fighting Spirit award. I wasn’t expecting it at all and actually accepted it with my mouth hanging open in utter disbelief. It’s amazing and I’m stoked on life right now.

Is it weird that I think this is AMAZING? I really want it just for the novelty.

Fighting Spirit…

Tomorrow I leave for the All-Ireland National Kendo Championships. Am I nervous? Yes I am. Will I win? Hell no! But, Will I have fun competing anyway? I suppose so. My left foot is in pretty bad shape due to another metatarsal break and I’m feeling very discouraged because really I don’t want to let anyone on my team down. So, I’m gonna go out there, kiai my loudest, fight like a demon and worry about the consequences afterwards. Wish me luck people!

Irish Kendo Team finished amongst the top 16 in the World. Considering how small our federation is, this is a HUGE success for us. We maybe have five kendo clubs in the entire country and I’m pretty sure we’re sensei-less too so to manage something of this magnitude is absolutely fantastic. Majority of the people in the picture are the people who I train with and learn from and I couldn’t be more proud of them. We may not have gotten first place but it sure as hell feels like it! Now to all my DKK family LETS GO TAKE NATIONALS THIS WEEKEND. FAITO!!

I’m gonna embroider this onto a tenugui. Japanese cranes done in traditional celtic art. I’m feeling artsy so I’ll most likely do a couple of different ones. Kendo kids message me if you want one and I’ll post it to you.
